Hurst nominated for second term in Missouri House

Mid-Missouri Republicans have nominated incumbent Tom Hurst for a second two-year term serving the 62nd House District in the state Legislature.

Although he officially must win the Nov. 4 general election before he can be declared re-elected, Hurst, R-St. Thomas, faces no opposition from any other filed candidate.

Hurst beat challenger Bruce Sassman, Bland, by a 67.6 percent to 32.4 percent margin, capturing 4,562 votes to Sassman's 2,182 votes.

The district includes all of Maries County and parts of Cole - including the Henley and St. Thomas areas - Osage, Miller, Phelps and Crawford counties.
