Korsmeyer wins GOP race for Cole County Clerk

Steve Korsmeyer won the three-way Republican race for Cole County clerk in Tuesday's primary election.

The unofficial results show Korsmeyer received 5,826 votes, or 51.5 percent, with Patty Bates getting 3,980 votes and Rik Combs receiving 1,495 votes.

"I want to thank everybody who helped me in this campaign, and I appreciate their trust in me," Korsmeyer said. "It's all a bit overwhelming right now."

Incumbent Republican Clerk Marvin Register did not run for re-election.

Korsmeyer now goes on to run in the November general election where he will face Democrat Susan Cook.

"Now we just have to keep working hard," Korsmeyer said. "We got a lot of positive feedback when we were out during this campaign and look to keep that going."
