Lady Jays take 2nd at cross country sectional

Jefferson City girls bound for State

CAMDENTON, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays took second in the Class 4 cross country sectional Saturday to earn a berth at the state championships.

The Lady Jays finished with 64 team points. Rock Bridge was first with 37, while Branson (85) and West Plains (108) also advanced as teams.

Emily Deeken led the Lady Jays by taking fifth.

The Class 4 girls championships are scheduled to start at 12:35 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

On the boys side, the Jays failed to qualify for state after finishing sixth Saturday.

Jackson Schwartz was Jefferson City's top finisher, taking 31st.
