ROBINSON
Shirley Ann Robinson, 71, of Clarksburg, Mo., loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City while surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 3, 1952 in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of William Joseph Hruska and Edith Katherine Reicks-Hruska.
Shirley was raised in a strong Christian household, where, from a young age, she learned the value of hard work and dedication. She graduated from Crestwood High School in 1971 and went on to graduate from The Twin Cities Min-St Paul college in 1972 as a Dental Hygienist, and a couple of months later, she married Gregory “Greg” Robinson on July 17.
In 1979, Shirley and Greg moved their family to California, Missouri, and purchased California Lanes. Over the next 27 years, she could be found behind the counter at the bowling alley, handing out shoes, snacks, and drinks to many bowling friends and youth. When not at the bowling alley, she could be found at the local race track, where she enjoyed watching Greg and other close friends race.
Shirley enjoyed reading, oil painting, crafting, camping, and helping others, but she especially loved supporting her family and grandchildren in all their endeavors. Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends and took pride in hosting them for the holidays and other special occasions where she served them a family tradition: oyster stew.
Along with her husband, Shirley is survived by two daughters, Melissa Hilsenbeck and Sally Martin (Justin); five grandchildren, Gregory and Christian Hilsenbeck, Lyndsi Logan (Kendrick), Trevor Martin (Emma Gerling), and Brili Martin; two great-granddaughters, Emery Hilsenbeck and Saige Logan; three siblings, Patricia “Pat” Bronner, David Hruska (Sally), and Robert “Bob” (Teri) Hruska; one sister-in-law, Deborah “Debbie” Robinson; three nieces, Amy Blessington (Jens), Jessica Ferin-Hruska (John), and Elena Hruska; five nephews, Troy Hart (Tasha), Scott Bronner (Niki), Jeff Daly (Maria), Tom Daly (Charity), and Matthew Meier (Jhessa); several great-nieces and nephews; two dear friends, Shirley Davenport and Billy Barnett; and a very special dog, Tilie Mae.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Joseph Hruska and Edith Katherine Reicks Hruska Bigalk; brother-in-law, Ray Bronner; and sister-in-law, Sharyl Cline.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service.
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service with Rev. Dr. Peter Kurowski officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Colon Cancer Coalition or the Tillie Mae Rescue Fund. These funds will be used to assist dogs with emergency needs in the local area.
