Virginia Marie Berhorst, age 87, of Westphalia, formerly of Freeburg, was born April 21, 1935, at Freeburg, a daughter of Bernard John "Ben" and Louise Marie (Bock) Berhorst, and passed from this life Thursday, September 8, 2022, in StoneBridge, Westphalia. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg and had been a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in St. Louis prior to moving to Westphalia. Virginia was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues, and through the years, she enjoyed playing tennis, traveling, hiking, and especially being with her family. During her working life, Virginia was employed as a care provider to others which takes a person that is sincere, compassionate, loving, and kind like the person she was. This dedication to others speaks so very highly of Virginia. Those left to celebrate the life of Virginia Berhorst include: One son, John Weidinger and Jeanne Deubel, both of Panama, Florida; one daughter, Janet Weidinger and Edward Ritter, both of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Jennifer Hedrick and Jon Sholl, Morgan Casey Weidinger, and Torri Weidinger; two brothers, Bernard John "Jack" Berhorst, Jr. and wife, Jean, and Daniel Leander Berhorst and wife, Betty, all of Freeburg; one sister, Patricia Marie Dvorak of San Jose, California; nephews; nieces; other relatives; and many friends. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Joseph Weidinger on August 15, 2014; her father, Ben, on December 13, 1975; her mother, Louise, on February 19, 1979; and two sisters, Betty Ann Redel and Louise Bagneschi. Visitation for Virginia Berhorst will be held in Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, MO 65035, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022, with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. William D. Debo as the celebrant under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Interment for Virginia will be near her parents and other relatives in Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg. Pallbearers will be Shawn Berhorst, Ben Berhorst, Rodney Berhorst, John Weidinger, Jon Sholl, and Edward Ritter. Memorial contributions in memory of Virginia Berhorst are suggested by her family for Masses or to the Holy Family School with envelopes available at Holy Family Church the day of her service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O.
