Ronald O. "Ron" Meyer, 67, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 18, 1954, to J.O. "Jerry" and Isidora A. (Distler) Meyer. Ron was a 1973 graduate of Jefferson City High School. The day after he graduated, he was employed by Von Hoffman, Inc., later known as R.R. Donnelly. He worked there until his retirement after many years of service. "Big Ron" had a larger-than-life stature, was a perfectionist in every sense of the word, and a true friend to many. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and traveling to North Dakota and South Dakota to pheasant, quail, and prarie dog hunt. He loved spending hours at and grooming his farm in Callaway County, co-owned with his childhood friend, Wayne Bernskoetter. He cherished the many friendships he made at his daily workouts over the last 19 years at the YMCA. Ron was a member of the California Shooters Club and United Sportsman Club in Jefferson City, where he served on the Board of Directors and on the Trap and Skeet Committee. He volunteered with youth hunters' education which included taking his grandson and great-nephews on their first youth hunts, and Missouri State High School Trap Shooting. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and NRA. Ron was a proud donor to the American Red Cross, Heroes for Babies. He also enjoyed the time he spent rebuilding his 1940 Ford Coupe and attending car shows with his friends over the years. Ron is survived by his mother, Isidora A. Meyer; son, Justin Meyer and wife Stephanie of Leawood, Kansas; daughter, Tobie Meyer of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Maddie and Landon Meyer and Charlie and Beau Blanton; step-son, David Meckfessel and wife Danie and their children Colby Meckfessel, Alex Muncey, Jami Meckfessel, Ronald Meckfessel (Ann Marie), and granddaughters, Isla Marie and Navey Taylor Meckfessel; siblings, Richard "Ric" Meyer, Carole (Bob) Boeckman, Carla (Tom) Schnieders, and Cheri (Mike) Coats; nieces, nephews, and many friends. He will be missed by so many! He was preceded in death by his father, J.O. "Jerry" Meyer; and grandparents, Otto J. and Elizabeth Meyer, and Otto G. and Christine Distler. A prayer service will take place on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Friends will be received on Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Ignazio C. Medina and Fr. Tony Onyeihe officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Ron fought a resilient battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor. Ron's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Stonebridge Oak Tree and Hospice Compassus for their love and support shown to Ron and his family. As was Ron's normal way, he made many more friends during his stay there. Expressions of sympathy may be made to The American Heart Association, The Red Cross Heroes for Babies, or the United Sportsman Club. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109 (573) 636-3838.
