Geneva A. Freiner-Ponder

Geneva A. Freiner-Ponder, 68, of Holt Summit, passed away September 7, 2022, at SSM St Mary's Hospital. She was born November 15, 1953, in Toppenish, Washington, the daughter of the late George L. and Geneva Schooley Freiner, whom both have proceeded her in death. A life-long resident of the Central Missouri Area, she attended Russellville and California High School graduating in 1972. She attended the Roedel Institute of Beauty, but decided to pursue her true passion of caring for the frail and elderly. She worked in both the long-term care industry and retired from Hospice Compassus. She was married to Russell Ponder, who she later divorced but remained friends. He survives her in Jefferson City. She is survived by her daughters Susan Lynne Ponder (Christopher Dean) and Hannah Laine Ponder (Shannon Sanford) both of Holt Summit; her beloved grandchildren, Kenneth Vance Brown, Kiara Dahne Brown, Kadence Ariel Brown, Jase Sandford, and Payton Lillie Sheppers, her siblings, Jeannine Farmer, Laurel (Judy) Hull and George Freiner. She will be fondly remembered for her love and compassion of animals and her strong commitment to find good in the world. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Steve Bucholtz officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter. Funeral Arrangements were made by Heartland Cremations.
