Charlene Kaye (Coons) Witt, age 70, of California, Mo., passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, in California, Mo. after a long, but hard-fought battle with cancer. Charlene was born to parents William Thomas Coons and Jessie Ellen McCasland Coons of Latham, Mo. on the 21st of April 1952. Charlene attended Latham School as a child before joining the workforce at a young age. She dedicated her life to being a childcare provider for over 40 years in the Moniteau and Cole County areas. She touched the lives of hundreds of children over the years who she grew to love as her own. Charlene also pursued a variety of business adventures from running an auction house, Price-Rite Furniture, a variety store, and a flower shop in California, Mo. Being such a hard worker while also keeping the mood light was always her strength. The greatest loves of her life were her four children: Donnie, Mikey, and Theresa, whom she shared with her first husband George Witt, and Ronessa whom she shared with Rodney Storm, her partner of 20 years. She loved big in life, and that love was present every single day by the care, support, attention, and love that she gave to her children, her friends, and all the kids whose lives she touched over the years. Charlene is survived by two sons, Donnie Witt (Stacy) of Holts Summit, and Michael Witt (Karen) of O’Fallon; two daughters, Theresa Borntreger (Levi) of Belton, and Ronessa Gunnerson (Mike) of California. She was also the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Campbell Gray, Kendall, Alex, and Adam Witt; Logan, Landon, and Jackson Borntreger; and Cameron and Finn Gunnerson; two sisters: Eva Brown, Rose Hubbard; and one brother: Gene Coons. Charlene is also survived by her best friend, Clarence Hohman. She was preceded in death by her parents, William T. Coons and Jessie E. McCasland; twin sister, Darlene Bonecutter; brothers, Roy McCasland, William Coons, Jaime Coons, Gary Wayne Coons, Donald Coons, and Robert Coons; and sister, Thelma Coons. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at High Point Baptist Church, 40314 Church Rd., California, MO 65018. Memorial services will directly follow at the church.
