John Preston Stickney, 82 of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born May 25, 1940, in Eldon, Missouri the son of late John J. and Annabelle (Morris) Stickney. On September 2, 1961, in Etterville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Jean (Lowery) Stickney who survives of the home. Survivors include: children, Mark Stickney (Robyn), Anita Dennis, Darren Stickney; siblings, Melvin Garrett (Arletta), Helen Buckner, Georgia Smith; numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, J.R. Garrett and a sister, Betty Jo Thomas preceded him in death. John was raised lovingly by his grandparents, Lawrence and Laura Morris and his aunt Grace Morris. John was a member of the Christian faith and currently attended Capital West Christian Church of Jefferson City, Mo. He was a model railroad builder, building model building replicas of Eldon for his personal layout and for others. He also loved working outdoors where he spent much of his time landscaping. John loved his ice cream and enjoyed the Cree Mee Drive In and Culvers. He was a great husband and father. Visitation was held Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 11:00 a.m.– 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo with the Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Yoder officiating. Burial followed at Dooley Cemetery. Memorials in his name are suggested to Dooley Cemetery or Capital West Christian Church of Jefferson City, Mo.
