Paul L. Schaeffer

Paul L. Schaeffer, 89, of Eldon, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 4, 1933, in National City, California, a son of the late Leonard and Marie (Ott) Schaeffer. He was united in marriage to Shirley Howser on October 18, 1953, at Lake Ozarks, Missouri, who preceded him in death. He was a 1956 graduate of School of the Osage. Paul served in the United States Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1961.He went on to earn a Bachelors and Masters degree from Southwest Missouri State University. Paul taught at School of the Osage from 1978 until his retirement in 1999. He was the owner/operator of the Tom Sawyer Excursion Boat for over 20 years. He was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association and the American Legion. Paul is survived by his; children, Cindy Williams, Melodi Graessle (Luke), Misti Barnes (Dale) and Christopher Schaeffer; grandchildren, Beckie Hyden, Gabe Richter, Aaron Richter, Kelly Backes, Amy Carder, Tracy Graessle, Arah Poston and Christine Distler; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Millie Backes, Oakley and Leo Carder.
