Deva Beatrice Steele

Deva Beatrice Steele, 90, Holts Summit, Mo., passed into the presence of the Lord, May 1, 2022, at her son's home. She was born April 12, 1932, in Blythedale, Mo., the daughter of David A. and Elva Grace (Dahm) Wallace. She married Joseph (J.C.) Steele on Aug. 16, 1947, Albany, Mo. Deva has always been a hard worker. She worked in her early years in Omaha, Neb. at a place called Auto Renew for several years, masking and wet sanding vehicles and preparing them for painting. At the same time, she also worked at home helping her husband and son on their mink farm and helped take care of the livestock. They moved to the Jefferson City, Mo. area in 1967, she then worked for Chesebrough Ponds for several years. She took an early retirement to take care of her husband. She was a member of the Summit First Assembly of God in Holts Summit, Mo. She enjoyed going to church, fishing, working in her garden and having fun with her grandchildren. Survivors include her son, James (Mary) Steele of Holts Summit, Mo.; sister, Carol Hunt of Jefferson City, Mo.; five grandchildren, James Norman Steele, Holts Summit, Mo., Jamie (Bobby) Showers of Jefferson City, Mo., Jared (Carinda) Steele, Jefferson City, Mo.; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Steele; her mother, Grace Jiles; 11 brothers and two sisters. She will be lade to rest next to her husband at Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City, Mo. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Summit First Assembly of God, 261 Spalding Road, Holts Summit, MO, with a Celebration of Life following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Summit First Assembly of God.
