Douglas Ray DeFreece

Douglas Ray DeFreece, 60, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away at his home on Sunday May 8, 2022. He was born on April 1, 1962, in Chillicothe, Missouri, a son of the late JoAnn DeFreece-Gonder and Richard DeFreece. He was united in marriage on April 14, 1984, to Ginger Fries, who survives of the home. He was a 1980 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Doug went on to attend and graduate from Linn State Technical College with a degree in HVAC installation. He was handy in his wood shop and over the years created many beautiful objects that he gifted to his family and friends. Doug loved being in nature, feeding his birds and fishing. He and his step-father took a nine-day canoe trip down the Missouri River that began in Kansas City and ended at the Arch in St. Louis. Doug cherished time spent with his family. He was a hard-working and loving father who will be greatly missed. Doug is survived by his wife, Ginger DeFreece; daughter, Jessica DeFreece; father, Richard DeFreece (Sandy); step-mother, Sharon Gonder; sisters, Diane DeFreece- Knox (Clint) and Nikki Emery (Bob); step-siblings, Jeff Claypool, Gil Gonder (Andrea), Gailen Rosenberg (Russ), Geoffrey Gonder (Sondra) and Gregory Gonder (Krissy). He was preceded in death by his son, Zachari C. DeFreece; mother, JoAnn Gonder; step-father, Glen Gonder; and step-brothers, Glen Gonder Jr., George Gonder and Gary Gonder. Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.
