Delbert Francis Vaughn, 69, of Jefferson City, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on October 10, 1952, a son of the late Overton Vaughn and Willie Mae (Reynolds) Hatton. He was a 1970 graduate of Lincoln Lab School. Soon after graduation he joined the United States Air Force. He served for two years before his honorable discharge. For many years he was a cook in several local eateries. Delbert also sold Christmas trees for the Optimist Club. He was an enthusiastic "junker" and enjoyed attending auctions and tinkering with electronics. He was a very sociable person and could really talk your ear off. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his sisters, brothers and many nieces and nephews. Delbert is survived by his siblings, Myvera Westbrooks, Lionel Smith, Vennetta Anokam and J.J. Smith (Lisa); numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Vaughn and David Baynham. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Inurnment will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Samaritan Center.
