Mary Ellen (Roling) Hood

Mary Ellen Hood (Roling), 97, a resident of Country Oaks Village, formerly of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was born on July 21, 1924, in Jefferson City, the eldest daughter of Emil H. and Aurelia K. (Eveler) Roling. She was married to Clarence William "Bill" Hood on April 26, 1952. Mary graduated from St. Peter's Catholic High School in 1942. She was a socialite in her younger years. Mary then joined the United States Navy during World War II as a Nursing Aide. She found comfort in helping others and spent her career as a nurse aid and a home health caregiver. She is survived by children: Mark R. Hood (Brenda) of Grain Valley, Alan D. Hood (Lita), Amy B. Doucette (John) and Jeanne E. Binkley (Mike), all of Jefferson City; daughter-in-law: Barb Toman; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and children: Richard W. Hood and Mary Dianne Sumey. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with funeral services following at 12:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. In continuing with Mary's desire to help other, memorial contributions are suggested to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
