Andrew William “Bill” Morland, 72, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at his home. He was born on January 8, 1950, in Jefferson City to Harry and Clara (Mickelis) Morland and was a 1968 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Bill enlisted in the United States Army in the late 1960’s and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War working as a Power Generation Equipment Operator and Mechanic. He was proud to have served his country and was honorably discharged. Bill was employed with ABB for over 30 years retiring in 2005. He helped build the first transformer manufactured at Westinghouse, and worked the majority of his time there in production. He monitored inventory of parts and made significant improvements to the shipping pallet ordering system. He was extremely knowledgeable of all phases of production. After retirement, he worked for his nephew at Callaway Overhead Doors. Bill was an outdoorsman through and through. He loved nothing more than spending time in nature, fishing, hunting, camping or even just riding his four-wheeler around his property. The family farm was truly “home” to Bill and he lived on the same farm in Holts Summit his entire life. He spent a lot of time with his nephews and enjoyed being involved in their lives and instilled a love for the outdoors in them as well. Bill was a creature of habit and made Friday trips to the local parts store, American Auto Supply and in his younger days, spent many evenings enjoying a refreshment at Pat’s Place, currently known as Paddy Malones. He was strong in his convictions and set in his ways but never forgot to appreciate the simple things in life. Survivors include: his sisters, Janet Barker of Holts Summit and Mary Durham of Jefferson City; seven nieces and nephews, Tracy Barker, Wendy Kleffner, Mary Nilges (Roger), Amy Kaplan (Brandon), Billy Barker, John Durham (Brenda) and Claud Durham (Cathy); and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Morland; brothers-in-law, Leon Barker and Jack Durham; nephew, Davy Barker; and nieces, Jackie and Cathy Pinet. A memorial service with military honors was held last Friday, June 24, 2022, at Freeman Mortuary with the Reverend Bob Nilges officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
