William Sr. Wyley Broyles

William "Bill" Wyley Broyles Sr., 84, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at University of Missouri Hospital. He was born on April 16, 1938, in Bristol, Virginia, the only son to the late David Dale and Mary Sue (Lewis) Broyles. He was united in marriage at Everett Hill Baptist Church in Maryville, Tennessee to Cheryl Ownby on April 10, 1965. Bill graduated from Alcoa High School in Alcoa, Tennessee in 1956. He continued his education at the University of Tennessee and graduated in 1961 with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He dedicated a majority of his work life to Westinghouse (now ABB) as a Product Line Manager. He retired in 1997 after 34 years of service. He also proudly served six years in the Tennessee Air National Guard as Staff Sergeant. Bill was of the Baptist faith. He was a former member of the Athens, Georgia Chamber of Commerce as well as the Bristol, Tennessee Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, bass fishing, and reading. Most importantly, he earned his title of great-grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed by all of those who knew him. He is survived by his sons, William Wyley Broyles Jr. (Susan), Russell Broyles (Abby), and Randall Broyles (Jamie); grandchildren, Ben, Leo, Nora, Connor, Ricky, and Lynn; great-granddaughter, Lily; sister-in-law, Gail Ownby; and nieces and nephews, Angie, Tom Jr., Chris Rule, and Paige Rittenhouse. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Cheryl; sister, Peggy Rule; and brothers-in-law, Tom Rule Sr. and Carl Ownby. A celebration of life ceremony will take place on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.
