Bradley Craig Dorris, age 41, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at his home. He was born April 26, 1981, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of Kevin Dorris and Cathy Morgan. Brad was a 1999 graduate of Van Buren High School in Van Buren, Missouri. Brad received his bachelor's degree in History and English from College of the Ozarks in Branson, Missouri, and his master's degree in History where he graduated with distinction from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He was the Director of Adult Education and Literacy at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. On June 14, 2003, he married Susie Richardson, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Brad is survived by his wife of 19 years, Susie; his mother, Cathy Morgan of Van Buren, Missouri; his father, Kevin Dorris of West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Amber Chitwood and her husband, Seth, and their son, Jaden, all of Kansas City, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Mary Richardson; sister-in-law, Jane Phillips and her husband, Lowell; two brothers-in-law, Donnie Richardson and Scott Richardson and his wife, Lynne, all of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; his maternal grandmother, Bonnie Morgan of Van Buren, Missouri; his paternal grandmother, Mary Melton, of Popular Bluff, Missouri and several nieces and nephews. Brad was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Morgan; paternal grandfather, Glen Dorris and father-in-law, Rex Richardson. A visitation, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Brad Dorris AEL Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
