Mary Pealer

Mary Jo Pealer, 80, of Portland, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022. Mary was born on January 26, 1941, in Castleberry, Alabama, to Andrew and Annie Ethel (Shipp) Gibson. She was a woman of deep faith who loved Jesus with all of her heart which was reflected in her love for others. She was a resident of Portland, Missouri and after retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband Paul. Their travels included visiting their children and grandchildren in Alabama, Missouri, and Texas. Mary and Paul spent time working to improve the welfare of our veterans. She was a Past Commander for the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Department of Missouri. She was also a member of the VFW and AMVETS Auxiliaries. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her loving husband, Paul D. Pealer Sr. of Portland, Mo.; son, Kenneth J. Melton (Tammi); step-son, David Pealer (Ida); step-daughter, Diane Curnes (Lanny); grandchildren, Morgan Norman, Dallas Melton, Megan Pealer, Samantha Tijerina, Eileen Pealer, Danielle Curnes and Matthew Curnes; great-grandsons, Bryson Norman and Liam Rodriguez; a special sister-in-law, Mary Gibson; and numerous extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Andrew and Annie Gibson; and brother: Clarence L. Gibson. There will be two celebration of life services. The first will be on February 12, 2022 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 22254 Co. Rd. 6, Castleberry, Alabama with visitation at 10:00 a.m. with the service at 11:00 a.m. The other on February 19, 2022, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the service at 12:00 noon.
