Helen Louise Jenkins Martin

Helen Louise Jenkins Martin, age 91, of Ashland, passed away Friday, January 14 , 2022, at Cedarhurst Senior Home. Helen was born May 8, 1930 in Ulman, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur and Minnie (Witt) Jenkins. She married Lawrence Richard Martin on July 3, 1948, in Cedar City, Mo., and he preceded her in death. She retired from Square D in 1995. She was also a bus driver for Southern Boone Schools and worked at Jefferson City Memorial Hospital for many years. Helen had a passion for quilting, quilt shows, and traveling to see state capitals or just about anything. She had seen most of the capitals in the 48 states. She was a member of the Tebbetts Quilting Club, Women of Faith at the Hartsburg Baptist Church, and Hartsburg Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her children, Larry (Gwen) Martin of Hartsburg, Russell (Donna) Martin of Ashland, Delores (George) Algiere of Columbia, Steve (Janet) Martin of Shiloh, Ill. and Pamela (Troy) Kessinger of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Tracey Wilms of Eugene, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Helen (Alan) Nichols of Ashland; 10 grandchildren, Chad (Shelly) Martin, Richard (Heather) Martin, Leslie (Matthew) Dickinson, Adam (Mandy) Algiere, Brett (Leslie) Martin, Kelly Algiere, Robert (Kayla) Algiere, Mariah (Brian) Hensel, Kaitlin Henderson, and Nathan Martin; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Oliver, Gene, Carl, and Curtis Jenkins; and four sisters, Ruby Kemp, Eunice Oglibee, Ethel Wertz, and Dorothy Edwards. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 17 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Robinson Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Liberty Cemetery, Jackson Cemetery, AlzheimerÆs Association (ALZ.ORG), or Hartsburg Baptist Church, in the care of the family.
