Louis Francis (Junior) Miller III, age 95, of Jamestown, Missouri, died on January 23, 2022, while a resident of Moniteau Care Center in California, Missouri. Louis was born November 18, 1926, to Louis F. II and Sophia (Dietzel) Miller at their farm near Lupus, Missouri. He was united in marriage on December 19, 1951, to his dear wife of 70 years, Rose Alene Thompson. They had four children, Ava (Russell) Porter; L. F. IV; Karen (Jarett) Porter; and Darla (Danny) Baysinger. He leaves behind seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Betty Massengale; two nieces; and a nephew. Family was the pride and joy of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, L. F. IV; his half-sister, Luetta Scherff; two brothers-in-law, Bob Massengale and Winston Scherff. Junior, a life-long resident of Moniteau County, attended Splice Creek Grade School and graduated from Jamestown High School (Class of 1945). After graduation, he was drafted into the Army. His father passed away following a farming accident while Junior was enlisted. He served his country 95 days. A concentrated effort by local friends secured him an Honorable Discharge directly from President Truman, allowing him to return to the family farm to care for his mother and small sister. Junior was a career farmer. He was a member of Splice Creek Methodist Church until its closure. Then, he moved his membership to Grace United Methodist Church. He served in many offices in both churches. He was very active in the community. He served on the Peoples Bank of Jamestown and Peoples Bank of Moniteau County Board of Directors from 1983 to 2009. He served four years on the Jamestown School Board. He also served as a member of the Moniteau County ASC committee and the Silver Citizens board. He was called upon many times to assist in the needs of the community and never said “no”. It has been said by his neighbor concerning his business dealings, “If Junior Miller said it, it’s true.” (Which might not be said of some of the stories he told at the coffee shop!). Visitation will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service. Funeral Ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with officiating Rev. Don Almond officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Concord Cemetery Association and Grace United Methodist Church. Online condolences can be given at www.windmillridgefuneralservice.com.
