Clarence Donald Richards, 96, of Holts Summit, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. He was born on July 30, 1925, a son of the late Homer and Ethel (Fitzwater) Richards. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Huning on March 27, 1946, who preceded him in death. Clarence was a 1943 graduate of California High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy Medical Corps during World War II. He was a Nurse Anesthetist, and worked as an industrial nurse for Catepillar and a surgical nurse for St. Mary's and Charles E. Still hospitals. Clarence was a very gentle and loving man. He loved to go to church, and never missed a service. He kept a King James Version bible that belonged to his father with him at all times. He was a Sunday School teacher for over 55 years, as well as a Deacon for both Cedar Grove Baptist Church and Union Hill Baptist Church. He loved to travel the world with Bonnie, which took them to over 70 countries. Clarence loved his sweets, dogs, and children, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his dear friends: Linda Mann and Johnny, Debi and Layne Lewis; and sister: Evelyn Kipling of Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Bonnie; and brothers: Mark and Glen Richards. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow with Rev. Dusty Klein officiating. Entombment with full military honors will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Building Fund at Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
