Zita Tappel

Zita M. Tappel, age 97, passed away, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, in StoneBridge, Westphalia. She was born January 30, 1925, in Maries County, the daughter of Louis and Gertrude (Eichholz) Wieberg. She married Wilfred Tappel on May 8, 1944, and to this union three children were born. They are Donald Tappel (Ann) of Argyle, Barbara Bahr (John, of Jefferson City, and Linda Pritze, of Koeltztown. Her children survive along with six grandchildren, Keith Tappel, Kurt Tappel, Gayla Welsh, Jennifer Wieberg, Gwen Schwartz, and Shawn Kell; and 12 great-grandchildren. Zita was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown, and the St. Boniface Quilting Circle for many years. After raising her children, Zita was employed by the Missouri Department of Revenue for four years and the Missouri Petroleum Association for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred on March 6, 2000; one grandchild, Christopher Kell on January 8, 1970; her father, Louis on October 3, 1957; her mother, Gertrude on September 9, 1989; siblings, Roman Wieberg on April 5, 1979, Mary Stratman on May 8, 2001 (Leo on February 17, 1988), Alma Dette on August 11, 1986 (Raymond on June 14, 2012), Tobias “Toby” Wieberg on December 12, 1996 (Delores on May 10, 1990), Freda Kampeter on December 19, 2016 (Clarence on September 8, 2016), Louis “Lee” Wieberg on April 14, 2013 (Mary on June 25, 2016), and Dorothy Massman on December 6, 2020 (Albert on April 21, 1985); her mother-in-law, Cunigunda Tappel on April 29, 1946; her father-in-law, August Tappel on July 6, 1935; son-in-law, Bill Pritzel on December 30, 2015; and sister-in-law, Leona Reinkemeyer on March 13, 1999. Visitation for Mrs. Zita Tappel will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022, and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, 3982 Highway T, Koeltztown, MO 65048, with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00 a.m. in the church under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Interment for Zita will be next to her beloved husband, Wilfred, in St. Boniface Cemetery, Koeltztown.
