Frederick Paul Egler

Frederick Paul Egler, age 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Jefferson City Manor. Fred married Marlene Sloan in 1952 and shortly after purchased two freight tractors which he leased to Roadway Express and later sold to the company while continuing employment. He was awarded a million-mile safe driver award and retired from the company in 1991. He had a never-ending love for his children, eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Fred never met a stranger and loved to travel, ride his Harley, drive his 1940 Packard, dance, fish, play blackjack and darts, and was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Survivors include: his son, Don Egler, and daughters, Linda Laucks and Paula Keyes. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Freeman; father, Peter Egler; mother, Ella Egler; two brothers, Peter and Bernard Egler; and two sisters, Shirley Nichols and Carol Nickelson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 1 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 3738 Morganford Rd., St. Louis, Mo. Immediately following a gathering will be held at Pepper's Bar and Grill, 5452 Gravois Ave., St. Louis, Mo. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
