Mr. Robert Dean "Bob" Miller, age 89, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully Friday, April 15, 2022, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. Bob was born on June 29, 1932, in Trenton, Mo., the son of Harry and Novelynn (Martin) Miller. Bob grew up in Trenton, Mo. and was a 1950 graduate of Trenton High School. During that time is where he met the love of his life, Judy Holloway, and they were married on November 19, 1952 in Trenton, Mo. Judy preceded Bob in death just six short months ago on October 18, 2021. His family finds comfort that after 69 years of marriage, they were not separated long in this world and are together again. After graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until he was honorably discharged in 1955. Once Bob returned to civilian life in 1955, he began his long career with the Missouri Division of Employment Security in Chillicothe and moved to Jefferson City in 1967. He worked as the District Manager until his retirement in 1994. During his retirement, Bob helped the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as a Disaster Relief Coordinator and would travel across the country to help during natural disasters. Bob was a man of faith and a member of the First Christian Church. He was also involved in the local fly-fishing organization, Capital City Fly Fishers. Fly-fishing was a passion of Bob's and he was known for tying his own flies. For the past 40 years, one of his favorite activities was going out west to the mountains, fly-fishing in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. During this time, he met lifelong friends who continued to be a big part of his life. He was able to share his passion of fly-fishing with many family members and friends throughout the years. Some of his best memories come from taking his grandsons Joey, Justin, and Jeremy. More than anything, Bob cherished the time spent and memories he made with his family. He truly enjoyed spending time with them. His happiest times were at family BBQs and holiday get togethers. Bob's pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There is nothing he loved more than being a "Papa" to each and every one of them. He will be remembered for his fun personality, always wanting to share life with others and his constant love for his family. He never met a stranger and would spend endless hours telling stories and sharing his memories. Survivors include: two daughters, Debbie Werner (husband, Tom) of Des Moines, Iowa and Linda Bolten (husband, Keith) of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Joey Bryan (wife, Kourtney), Jessica Cozart (husband, Jeremy), and Justin Bolten (wife, Leah); nine great-grandchildren, Tatum Bryan, Cooper Cozart, Jack Cozart, Harley Bolten, Cain Bolten, Winter Bryan, Haven Bolten, Jasper Bryan, and Charley Cozart. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Judy; one sister, Jean Diecidue; and three brothers, Bud Miller, Ted Miller, and Ed Miller. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2022.
