Martha Christine Russell

Martha Christine Russell, 96, of Jefferson City, passed away February 26, 2022, at her home. Martha was born December 25, 1925, in Dexter, the daughter of the late Albert and Pearl Mekan. She graduated from Essex High School. She married Argus Russell on December 24, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1986. She retired from Scholastic and was an Auxiliary member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion and Eagles. She is survived by a son, Argus Jr. of the home; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Emma Louise Fortner; and two brothers, J.M. and Billy Joe Mekan. Martha was cremated. Her remains will be layed to rest in the Dexter, Mo. cemetery.
