Mrs. Patricia Ann Zavitz, 79, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at home. She was born on May 31, 1942 in Dearborn, Mich., to Leo and Norma (McHale) Wnek. Pat was a 1960 graduate of Fordson High School. She married Roy E. Zavitz on January 9, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and they soon relocated to Jefferson City. While raising her family and working full time, Pat decided to go back to school and received her Registered Nursing Degree from Lincoln University in 1991. Pat was employed with the State of Missouri with Public Service Commission Division of Insurance, Department of Corrections, Department of Mental Health and Home Health. She was a member of the auxiliaries of the VFW, DAV, American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Pat enjoyed visiting her granddaughter, Rose; taking her dog, Chopper, to the dog park; feeding and watching birds; and volunteering for Hospice. She also loved the holidays, along with birthday celebrations and cooking for family. Her love of cooking for family and friends led to many hours of collecting and sharing recipes. Pat loved her family and their home that always welcomed everyone. Survivors include: her sons, Ray Zavitz and partner Randy Benton of Columbia, Mo. and Peter Zavitz and wife Andrea of Dothan, Ala.; granddaughter, Rose Zavitz; sister, Cindy Smith and husband Mark of Houghton Lake, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Roy Zavitz; sister, Barbara Lang; and brother, Jerry Wnek. A celebration of Pat's life will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2021.
