James Comfort, 80, of Tipton, Mo., passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born September 22, 1941, in Jamestown, Mo., the son of Clarence and Jewel (Hampton) Comfort. James proudly served in the US Army. He was part of the 101st Airborne Division, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. He rode Honda motorcycles all over the country. He enjoyed riding horses and mules and staying busy on the farm. Jim didn't know a stranger and loved to make people laugh. He was an amazing singer. He owned and operated a painting business in Jefferson City for several years. He worked until his retirement as a Corrections Officer for several Missouri prisons. James is survived by one granddaughter, Heather Beauchamp; three honorary grandsons, Gabe, Jacob, and Tanner Steffen; a niece, Cathy Reece, and several other nieces and nephews; a true friend, Josh Brondel; and his dog Tinker. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Lee. Jr., Comfort; one sister, Sue Turner; and his favorite ex-wife, Betty Pointer. Private Graveside Service will be held at Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 12 p.m. at LeMaire's in Sedalia.
