Frederick James "Rick" Wallace, 69, of Tuscumbia, Mo., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 28, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. Rick was born on September 27, 1952, in Jefferson City, to Glen and Pauline (Gummert) Wallace. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Rick was a 1970 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Rick began his career with his parent's business, Wallace Dental Lab, where he worked for 20 years. In 1992, Rick started Wallace Painting and Maintenance, and it became a family business. An avid outdoorsman, he spent many years trapping, fishing and hunting big game. His passion was taking care of the family farm, tending to his cattle, driving his big blue tractor and taking in the views with Heidi. His greatest joy came from his three boys, Sam, Tyler and Mike, whom he shared with former wife, Cherie Steinmetz. As the boys grew, they quickly became his favorite hunting and fishing buddies, and he never missed an event. From sports to Cub Scouts, Rick was always rooting them on. He was well known and respected in the painting industry for many years and was a hardworking family man. His children and grandchildren meant everything to him. Anyone who knew Rick was touched by his big heart, big personality and even bigger sense of humor. Rick was a member of the Rodden Church of Christ in Brumley, a former member of Capital City Crappie Club, and Bass Masters. He also served on the Board of Directors for the United Sportsman Club. He is survived by: his mother, Pauline Wallace; three sons, Sam Wallace (Brooke), Tyler Wallace (Jessica) and Michael Wallace; grandchildren, Olivia Quick (Nash), Dylan Wallace, Kailey Wallace and Remi Wallace; significant other of 14 years, Heidi Delf and her children, Andrew Delf (Nicole) and Hunter Delf (Wendy); brothers, Robert Wallace (Mary Johnson) and Dr. Stan Wallace; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and his loyal companion, Black Dog. He was preceded in death by: his father, Glen Wallace; and former brother-in-law, Mike Steinmetz. A private memorial service family and close friends will be held at the Rodden Church of Christ. Memorials are suggested to Rodden Church of Christ, 771 Hwy 17, Tuscumbia, MO 65082. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
