Herman Joseph Brenneke

Herman Joseph Brenneke, 93, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Westphalia Hills surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 1, 1928, in Meta, Missouri, a son of the late William and Martha (Boeckman) Brenneke. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Massman on November 29, 1952, in St. Elizabeth. He attended school in St. Elizabeth. In February of 1951, he joined the United States Army and spent a year in Korea. Upon his return he joined the Army Reserve and retired as a Sergeant First Class. Herman began working for the Missouri State Printing office in 1952, shortly after his marriage, and retired in December of 1993 with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Taos Knights of Columbus, former member of the Eagles Club, and was an usher at St. Francis Xavier Church. Herman enjoyed playing bingo, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, but most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Herman is survived by his children, Joseph Brenneke (Diann), Kenneth Brenneke (Agnes), Carol Frank, Mary Kroll (Robert), Jeffrey Brenneke (Brenda), Glenn Brenneke (Kimberly) and Rachel Farr (Bill); siblings, Anna Barton, Arlene Libbert (Jerome), Clara Hoecker (Wilfred), Rita Burks, Dorothy Lackman and William Brenneke; brother-in-law, Leonard Kempker; sister-in-law, Dora Massman; 24 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; son-in-law, Robert Frank; siblings, Catherine Rehagen (Norbert), Rosemary Kempker and Delores Schillers (Bernard); brothers-in-law, Bill Barton, Joe Lackman, Robert Brasier, John Massman, Norbert Massman and Joseph Massman; and sisters-in-law, Margie Brenneke, Theresa Braiser and Rosie Massman. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Taos Knights of Columbus with prayer service beginning at 2:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 15, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with interment following at St. Francis Xavier Parish Cemetery with full military honors.
