David Michael Stanford, 75, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Missouri Veterans Home, Mexico, Missouri. He was born on January 6, 1946, in St. Louis, a son of the late Dalton and Bertha (Myers) Stanford. He was united in marriage to Linda Scheperle in 2007 in Miller County. He was a 1963 graduate of Cahokia High School in Cahokia, Illinois. In 1966 he joined the United States Air Force and deployed to Clark AFB in the Philippines and then to O-Tapao, Thailand as a member of the 556th Civil Engineer Squad, Project RED HORSE. He was honorably discharged in December of 1969. After his return home he began a career as a lineman with Union Electric/Ameren UE that stretched from 1970 to 2003. David enjoyed being in the outdoors, Cardinal baseball and all kinds of music. David is survived by his wife of 14 years, Linda Stanford; children, Jonah Stanford, Julie Stanford-Bechtel Hill and Elizabeth Stanford; step-daughters, Leah Johnson (Dana) and Rebecca Renno; sisters, Mary Janz (Jeff) and Cherie Klosterman (Matt); grandchildren, Jordyn, Jakob and Jaxon Stanford, Jenna Mehring, Corbin and Lyric Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
