Catherine "Tootsie" W. (Schaefer) Kever, 88, of Jefferson City, formerly of Loose Creek, Mo., passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 4, 2021. Catherine was the youngest daughter of Theodore "Tedder" and Amelia "Molly" (Muenks) Schaefer. She was born in Loose Creek on April 20, 1933. She attended grade school at Immaculate Conception in Loose Creek. On May 24, 1952, she was united in marriage to Francis Kever, who preceded her in death on October 21, 2003. Catherine was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception parish in Loose Creek, a member of the St. Ann's Sodality, Willing Workers, Eagles Auxiliary 2693, VFW Auxiliary 4756 and American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 5. Besides being a homemaker, Catherine worked at Tweedie's Shoe Factory, Knoerr's Department Store, Linn Drug (Walgreens), Driveline Retail Merchandising and Foster Grant International until her retirement in 2017. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her families! She never missed sending a card to everyone in her family. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, cooking, baking, fishing and camping. Catherine is survived by her children: Robert (Linda) Kever of Westphalia, John (Cindy) Kever of Bonnots Mill, Rita (Larry) Muenks of Loose Creek, Jean (Ralph) Glavin of Frankenstein, Carl Kever of Jefferson City and Mary Kever of Jefferson City. She had 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one due later in November and one great-great-grandchild, along with her many nieces and nephews who considered her as a Mom. Catherine was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Francis; great-granddaughter, Hailey Glavin; brother, William E. Shaefer; and sister, Lucille Kraus. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Fr. Anthony "Tony" Rinaldo as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or School in Loose Creek.
