James "Jim" D. Arnold

James D. "Jim" Arnold, 77, of Kansas City and Jefferson City, died Wednesday, May 26, 2021, in Jefferson City. Born in St. Louis, MO. to Dorsey and Dorothy (Williams) Arnold, Jim moved from Kirkwood to Cuba to Holts Summit, attending Jefferson City High School ('62) and the University of Missouri (Alpha Tau Omega '70), serving honorably in the US Army at Fort Lewis, Wash. during the Vietnam War. Jim married Carolyn Hawkins, his high school sweetheart, in 1965. he survived her by one year and missed her terribly. He is now at peace. Jim is survived by his son, Jim, of Hong Kong; his daughter, Jill Stoneman (Mark) and grandchildren Will, Nate, and Lydia of St. Louis; his sisters, Nancy Thompson (Gerry) and Jeanne Rutledge (Carl) of Jefferson City; sisters-in-law, Betsy Hawkins (Bob) of Louisville, Ky., Suellen Wigen (Bill) of Seattle, and Cynthia Sullivan (Pat) of Jefferson City; beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and their families; fraternity brothers, classmates, and neighbors; and fishing and hunting buddies across the country who share seven decades of memories from where the Barren meets the Brushy in Miller County, Mo., to Lake White Iron in Ely, Minn., to Cole Camp, Mo., and countless lakes, streams and dirty jokes in between. A celebration of Jim's life will be held later this year. Before then, please honor his memory by contributing to the Missouri Department of Conservation or the Miller County Historical Society.
