Ethel Marie Wilson, 92, of Eldon, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021, surrounded by her family at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born on November 21, 1928, in Tuscumbia, Missouri, a daughter of the late Charley and Emma Nadine (Bond) Heldstab. She was united in marriage on July 6, 1971, to Dorsie A. Wilson, who preceded her in death on October 8, 2017. Ethel attended school and graduated in 1947, from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kan. She was glad to know fellow classmate Ed Asner, an actor who starred in many television shows and movies. She worked at Commerce Trust Bank in Kansas City, Mo. and Bank of Eldon, she was the secretary at the Eldon Jr. High School for 12 years, she worked for John Ashcroft when he was the Missouri State Auditor and retired at the age of 73 from the Ninth Street Christian Church as the secretary after 15 years of service. She was a member of the Ninth Street Christian Church for 60 years. Ethel and Dorsie enjoyed fishing, gardening and canning fresh produce from their many gardens. She had a talent for painting landscapes, making crafts (most notably wreaths and Christmas trees) and scrapbooking for the grandchildren. She also took great joy in attending activities of her grandchildren. She played the piano, enjoyed puzzles, shopping and reading (especially her Bible). She loved her family and the Lord. She is survived by one son, Ronald VanStrien (Kathy) of Indianola, Iowa and two daughters, Renee M. Hasty (Robert) and Rita A. Cordia (Paul), both of Jefferson City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Sean and Brett VanStrien, both of Indianola, Iowa, Eric Hasty (Ashley) of Chicago, Ill., Elise Bibriescas (Sergio) of Santa Clara, Calif., Evan Hasty (Joelle) of Kansas City, Mo., Christopher Boots (Mandy) of Eldon and Melanie Hein (Nathan) of Olathe, Kan.; three great- grandchildren, Carson Dunmire of Eldon, Kolin and Kaylee Hein of Olathe, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley Dallas Heldstab and Emma Nadine Heldstab; three husbands, Paul Wilford Goodman, Jacob Price VanStrien and Dorsie Alonzo Wilson; a sister, Anna Mae Rebstock; brother-in-law, Karl Rebstock; nephew, Shane Rebstock; and granddaughter, Emma Nicole Hasty. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021, at the Ninth Street Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Reynolds officiating. Interment will be held in the Eldon City Cemetery.
