Albert W. Holzhauser, 78, of Portland, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center surrounded by his family. Albert was a life-long resident of Portland, Missouri. He retired from the Chrysler plant in Fenton, Missouri where he worked on the line building cars for approximately 24 years. Albert was a loyal friend and always willing to assist if he had the means. In his younger years, Albert was a stellar baseball player and even as his eyesight began to leave him in later years, he remained one of the best pool shooters in the area. Albert's favorite pastime was to go to Holzhauser's Bar and Grill where he enjoyed watching the NASCAR races and sharing a few beers with friends and family. Albert's father had previously owned Holzhauser's Tavern for many years when Albert was young; however, the bar had transferred ownership several times over the years. After many years of the bar not being in the family, his daughter, Shannon bought the bar a few years ago. Albert was very proud and happy that it was back in the family. Albert is survived by daughter and son, Shannon Holzhauser and Shawn Holzhauser (Kim Harris); sister, Carolyn Leeper; five grandchildren, Reece Holzhauser (Susan), Rachel Calderon (Adam), John Weeks (Mindi), Josh Quessenberry, and Rion Quessenberry; and five great-grandchildren, Winnie Jo Calderon, Marley Calderon, Maeve Calderon, Willow Rose Calderon, and Sammie Weeks. Albert was preceded in death by his father, Dick Holzhauser, and mother, Ottilie (Bridges) Holzhauser. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, with Reverend Dr. Ronald Baker officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A celebration of his life will continue at Holzhauser's Bar and Grill where the NASCAR race will be airing at 2 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to Portland Cemetery Fund, Holzhauser's Bar and Grill for the resurfacing of pool tables purchased by his father in 1954, or St. Mark's Episcopal Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
