Jeanette C. Stone, 92, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born on December 31, 1928, in Galloway, Missouri, a daughter of the late Howard "Bood" and Esther (Tuter) Collison. She was united in marriage on June 30, 1962, to Charles O. Stone at Mentor Baptist Church in Rogersville. She was a 1945 graduate of Rogersville High School and then attended Draughon Business College. Jeanette began working for the Springfield Chamber of Commerce in 1946, and stayed with the Chamber for 10 years. At 27, she moved to Jefferson City and began a 36-year long career with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce. Along the way she met her husband Charles and in 1962 they married and began a family. Jeanette was a devoted member of First Baptist Church and was active on many committees. She was also active in Learning in Retirement, the Creative Writers Club, the Senior Nutrition Council, was a voracious reader and enjoyed spending time in nature. Jeanette was a loving mother and grandmother and loved making memories with her family. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, Steve Stone (Julie) and Charles Russell Stone; grandchildren, Joshua Stone (Tara Kaiser), Skyler Stone, Mason Stone and Charlee Jean Stone; great-granddaughter, Kamryn Stone; and many nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles O. Stone; sisters, June Franson, JoEtta Ewing, and Jimmie Hankey; nieces, Phyllis Mooney and Holly Andrews; and nephew, Mike Ewing. Family and friends will be received Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Services will be livestreamed and can be found on the millardfamilychapels.com website.
