Sharon Ruth Kuschel, 65, of Lohman, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Villa Marie in Jefferson City. She was born October 30, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Herbert and Irma “Werner” Kuschel. Sharon attended Hermann Public Schools. Following graduation, she met and married Samuel Dietz. They soon moved to Russellville, Missouri. Sharon enrolled at Lincoln University School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1986. She was employed by all Jefferson City hospitals including: Charles E. Still Hospital, Memorial Community Hospital, and St. Mary’s Health Center. Eventually she accepted a position at the University of Missouri Hospital & Clinics in Columbia, Missouri. She spent many years working in specialized units until her retirement in 2011. She was a devoted mother. No child has ever been loved as fiercely as her son: Sam. Sharon was a professional and deeply caring nurse who always went the extra mile in providing care to her patients. Sharon enjoyed collecting cars, she was the epitome of a Motorhead. Her first car was a yellow Camaro and earned the reputation as a speed demon, who was gifted with the ability of avoiding speeding tickets. She loved dogs, particularly Australian Shepherds. After the passing of her first husband, Sam Dietz, she met and fell in love with Gerald (Jerry) T. Heller. They enjoyed 18 years together. They were married in 2008 in Jerry’s hospital room by the hospital chaplain. He died shortly after in 2009. Sharon is survived by one son: Samuel Charles Joseph Dietz; nieces: Doris and Kitty; great-nieces; her three dogs: General, Bruiser, Sadie; and many friends and relatives who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Evelyn; and one brother-in-law: Leon. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Sharon at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service in the chapel. Interment will immediately follow. Arrangements are under the direction of TYLER M. WOODS FUNERAL DIRECTOR, 611 E.
