Brenda Thomas, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday December 10, 2021, surrounded by family. Brenda was born May 20, 1944, in Eldon to Miller and Phylis (Farley) Bacon. Brenda graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1962 and attended Metro Business College later in life. Brenda retired from her position as secretary of the Education department of the Missouri Department of Corrections in 2008. While her greatest joy was her family, Brenda enjoyed many things. She loved playing cards, bingo and reading. She really loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals with her kids and grandkids. Brenda is survived by her three children: Wayne Thomas (Bonnie), Connie Moore (Steve), Tish Malone (James); 11 grandchildren: Keri Moore (Max), Kacee Woodruff (Nick), Jesse Thomas, Courtenee Bryan, Cheyenne Bryan, Jacob Bryan, Thomas Shiverdecker (Dru), Joey Moore (Nathalie), Rae Fletcher (Nicole), Bradley Malone (Shanna), Andy Malone; and seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way. She also leaves behind two older sisters: Rosie Lairmore and Wanda Nave (John); two younger sisters: Ruth Mehrhoff (Phil) and Sherry Rackers (Mike); and younger brother, George Bacon (Mary). Brenda was preceded in passing by her husband, parents, younger brother Ed, one brother-in-law, and her beloved dog, Spunky. Brenda will be interred in a private burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eldon with arrangements provided by Heartland Cremation and Burial Society. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
