Virginia Lou Walsh, age 87, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, August 9, 2021, at Mill Creek Village Senior Living in Columbia, Mo. She was born on September 7, 1933, in Steedman, Mo., to Forrest Early and Mary Elizabeth (Lauderbaugh) Tate. She was married on April 28, 1979, in Jefferson City, to Daniel Edward Walsh Sr. Virginia was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Zion Bible School in Ava, Mo. She worked as a secretary with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the University of Missouri for most of her career. She also did secretarial work at Grace Episcopal Church. She was very active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary along with other activities at the VFW with her husband Dan who was in the United States Navy. Virginia enjoyed music and was a talented pianist who played by ear. She loved walking especially around the Missouri State Capitol, and fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks. Spending time with family was her greatest love. Virginia is survived by her sons, Rich O'Neal (Vera) of Columbus, Ohio, and Joe O'Neal of Raymore, Mo.; step-children, Daniel E. Walsh Jr. (Carla) of Syracuse, Mary Ridenhour (Mike) of Jefferson City and David Walsh (Angie) of Holts Summit; sister, Erlene Embrey of Columbia; and grandchildren, Stephen O'Neal (Molly) of Richmond, Va., and Michael O'Neal of Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan; siblings, Helen Wren, Mary Hall, Eleanor Crews, and Forrest Tate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Freeman Mortuary. Graveside services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Resurrection Cemetery.
