Robert Herman "Bob" Vieth, age 89 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Jefferson City Manor. He was born on May 8, 1932, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Edmond Herman and Lucine (Benson) Vieth. He was married on March 29, 1953, in Jefferson City to Mary Lou Northway, who survives. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Bob was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson City High School then went on to graduate from Jefferson City Junior College in 1952 and then enlisted in the United States Army. Bob proudly served his country in the 10th Reconnaissance Co., 10th Infantry Division until his honorable discharge as a sergeant. Bob was a past member of the Masonic Lodge AM & FM #43 and an active member of the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5 in Jefferson City. Bob was a traveler at heart and his love for history gave him a passion for seeing the world and experiencing new places. He explored numerous Missouri caves with his grandson and visited all 50 states and beyond, even taking a family trip with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandson to London and Paris to celebrate his and Mary Lou's 50th wedding anniversary. He enjoyed being outdoors especially near water and took advantage of winters at their condo in Florida and summers at their condo at the Lake of the Ozarks where they moved after his retirement. Bob was a boating enthusiast, fisherman and a lover of sports, including watching baseball and playing golf. In his younger days, Bob even played a bit of racquetball. Bob also loved spending time trying his luck at the boats. He was a great story teller and it did his soul good to reminisce with family and friends telling jokes and sharing memories. He especially looked forward to monthly lunches shared with a group of his high school buddies. Above all he relished time spent with family, most importantly his grandson, Chris.
