Martha Gertrude Evans, 95, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at her home with her family at her side. She was born on August 19, 1925, in Mississippi County, Missouri, a daughter of the late John Hascal and Hontas (McCuiston) Fox. She attended Charleston Public Schools before marrying Dellon Evans in 1942. After they moved to the Jefferson City area, she began working for the Jefferson City Public School system as a baker and retired after 20 years of service. She was an active member of the River City Reds, Red Hat Society and she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making greeting cards and especially spending time with her daughters and grandson. Martha is survived by her loving daughter, Marsha Tremaine; grandson, Shawn Tremaine; sister-in-law, Edna Fox; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Woten; son, Howard William Evans; brothers, Hascal Fox, Russell Fox, John Fox, Jeff Fox, and Ralph Fox; and sisters, Mildred Dalton and Frances Farris. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with Funeral Service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Missouri from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. with graveside service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Concord Baptist Church Youth Camp Fund.
