Matthew Oliver Babin, 41, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at River City Living Community. Matthew was born September 15, 1979, in Kansas City, Mo., to the late Stephen D. Babin and Julia A. (Oliver) Babin. Matthew was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy as an infant, but never let his disability dampen his sweet personality and joy of life. He had a deep love of family and friends, and was happiest when among them. Matthew most always had a smile on his face despite the many hardships he faced, and conquered many challenges in his life with dignity and determination. He attended school in Los Angeles, Calif., and later in Camdenton, Mo., where he graduated in May, 2000. Matthew was employed at Kingdom Projects, Fulton, Mo., until fall of 2013, when illness prevented his attendance. Matthew is survived by his mother, Julia Babin, Jefferson City; brother Michael (Kristen) Babin, Bel Aire, Kan.; nephews Hayden and Gabriel Babin, Bel Aire, Kan.; Grandfather George A. Oliver, Farmington, Mo.; Aunt Jeanne Landes, Farmington, Mo.; Aunt Kay (Gene) Greenhaw, Ellettsville, Ind.; Uncle David (Debbie) Oliver, Farmington, Mo.; Aunt Jan (David) Harlan, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Aunt Lynn Harbach, New Port Richey, Fla.; and many cousins. He was a resident of Tanner Bridge (CCRS) Group Home where he leaves behind many friends. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Stephen D. Babin; grandmother, Barbara A. Pullen Oliver; uncle, Bruce W. Landes; grandfather, C. Stephen Babin; and grandmother, Beverly L. Babin VerLinden. Plans for a memorial service are pending. Memorials suggested to Shriner's Hospital of St. Louis, Cole County Residential Services, and Hospice Compassus. Condolences may be left at Heartlandcremation.com
