Kenneth Claude Vaught

Kenneth Claude Vaught, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at The Bluffs in Columbia. He was born on November 26, 1943, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, a son of the Clyde Haskell and Jimmie Olive (Ingram) Vaught. Ken was united in marriage on February 3, 1973, to Loretta Wilga in St. Louis. Ken graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1962. He attended Sacramento State University in Sacramento, California where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Social Science. Following graduation, Ken joined the United States Army where he proudly served from 1967 until 1969. He was employed with Edison Brothers Stores, Inc. in St. Louis serving as Vice President of the Edison Brothers Shoe Stores division. He retired in 2000, after 40 years of service. Ken was not done working, he joined Bass Pro Shops in their Accounting Department for 10 years. Ken was ordained as a deacon while a member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Webster Groves and was currently a member of Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Ken was a life member of the VFW, a member of the NRA and previously served as an EMT and a volunteer firefighter in Fair Grove, Missouri. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and riding his motorcycle. Ken served as a big brother for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Missouri and was an avid Mizzou Tiger fan. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Loretta; son: Michael Vaught (Laura) of Jefferson City; brother: Richard Vaught (Susan) of Grove, Oklahoma; sister: Gail Boreggo (Alex) of Auburndale, Florida; and grandchildren: Olivia and William. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. In honor of Ken's love for Mizzou, family and friends are encouraged to wear your favorite Mizzou attire. Inurnment with full military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Vitae Society or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Missouri.
