Allen Andrew Dahlstrom

Allen Andrew Dahlstrom, 73, of Jefferson City, passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2021, at his Sunrise Beach home. He was born on August 13, 1947, in Mexico, Missouri, a son of the late Kenneth and Jesselyn Dahlstrom. Allen was united in marriage on June 11, 1983, in Jefferson City to Glenda Dudenhoeffer. He was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Allen attended Lincoln University for two years before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He attended tech school where he became an airplane mechanic. Allen served in Vietnam and was crew chief for a fighter jet squadron. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home and worked briefly as a boat mechanic before beginning employment with Westinghouse, where he would retire in 2002. Not one to be idle, he then became the Lawn & Garden manager at Lowe's in Jefferson City. Allen loved lake life and he and Glenda spent many happy hours at their home on Sunrise Beach. Making memories with his children and grandchildren were times he treasured the most. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Allen is survived by his wife of 37 years, Glenda Dahlstrom; children, Julie Dahlstrom, Stephanie Meyer (Justin) and Ryan Mertens (Amanda); grandchildren, Madelyn "Maddie" and Landon Meyer, Amelia and Josephine Mertens. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Dahlstrom II. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with Prayer Service beginning at 3:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with full military honors following. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Determination in Excellence in Nursing Scholarship in honor of Allen Dahlstrom.
