Larry Stephen Kempker, 73, of Jefferson City passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital from Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born on December 26, 1947, in Henley, Mo., the son of the late Stephen W. and Mathilda "Tillie" (Leven) Kempker. Larry was united in marriage on May 1, 1971, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown to Judith "Judy" Bax. Larry was a 1965 graduate of Eugene High School. He worked for various construction companies and later as a surveyor for the Missouri Dept. of Conservation. In 2007, Larry retired as a route salesman for Backers Potato Chips after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Mary's Home, Mo. and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jefferson City. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing and especially hunting with his dogs. Larry is survived by his wife, Judy of Jefferson City; his son, Steve of Jingmen, China; his daughter, Stacey (Samuel Lee) Bryan of Jefferson City; three sisters, Dolores Kelsey, Betty Kliethermes and Barb (Kenny) Hammond, all of Jefferson City; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Dusheke of Jefferson City, Norbert (Terry) Bax of Jefferson City; sister-in-law, Linda (Richard) Wieberg of Freeburg, Mo.; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Christopher and Bryan; one brother, Herman Kempker; two sisters, Laverne Koenigsfeld and Ermine Dusheke and two brothers-in-law, Jim Kelsey and Harry Kliethermes. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2021, at the Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Drive, Jefferson City with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10 a.m. Father Donald Antweiler will officiate. The service will be live streamed for those who wish to watch from home. The link can be found on Larry's obituary page under Tribute Wall at www.dulletrimble.com. The general public is welcome to attend while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are suggested while in attendance. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
