Patsy "Pat" Lou Hand

Patsy "Pat" Lou Hand, of Columbia, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, following a lengthy and debilitating illness. Pat was born January 19, 1940, in Greenfield, Ill., the daughter of James Leo and Elva J. (Perry) Tilley. She was united in marriage to Hayward Hand II on April 5, 2003. Hayward made a promise to God and to Pat that he would care for her always. Though his own health was declining, he was able to keep that promise. As a talented artist and photographer, Pat was able to share the beauty of nature through her paintings and photographs. She also enjoyed writing and sharing stories about her family. Pat loved the Lord and used her love and wisdom to encourage others. One of her most common sayings was "Just take the next best step". Surviving are: her husband, Hayward Hand II, Columbia, Mo.; son, Zeb (Donna) English, Hastings Ontario, Canada; daughter, Mickie (Mark) Kummer, Ashland, Mo.; daughter, Carrie (Mike) Paden, Columbia, Mo.; son Tony (LaDonna) English, Steelville, Mo.; son Joe (Lisa) English, Omaha, Neb.; 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren and another on the way; sister-in-law, Norma Tilley, Swartz Creek, Mich., and nieces, Debbie Tilley, Swartz Creek, MI, Vicky Wagner, Flint, MI. Nieces Renee Bellard, Youngsville, La.; Cheryl Resweber, Lafayette, La.; Lisa Eggli, Memphis, Mich. and Lori Konya, Thornton, Colo. considered Pat a surrogate mother following the death of their mother. There are many other friends and relatives that will miss her. A private service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021, with son-in-law Mark Kummer officiating. Interment was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers James, Bill and Robert Tilley, and two husbands.
