Karen A. Libbert-Tucker, 64, of Jefferson City, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. She was born on November 24, 1955 in Vienna, Missouri, the daughter of the late Roman and Juerline (Cissell) Volmert. Born and raised on a farm she loved helping her mom and dad work the fields, do gardening, make homemade ice cream or just sit on the front porch swing. Karen retired from the State Emergency Management Agency in June 2005, after working over 32 years with the State of Missouri as an Accountant. She then began her volunteering career with the American Red Cross Disaster Services, Runge Nature Center, Special Olympics, Camp Quality and St. Mary's Hospital. She loved traveling but especially doing mission trips through her local churches to poor places either statewide or Guatemala and Puerto Rico. She is survived by her husband, Steve Tucker; son, Chad Libbert of Centertown; step-daughters, Katie Young (Wally) of Fort Deposit, Alabama, Shanna Green (Greg) of Live Oak, Florida, and Brittany Tucker (Justin) of Jefferson City; sister, Susan Kleffner (Leo Jr.) of Vienna; five grandchildren, Alexis, Sam, Erin, Lillian, and Lainey; and 10 step-grandchildren. Also, near to her heart were her two nephews, Bruce (Tammy) and Doug (Beth); niece, Tami (Jason); great-nephews, Grant and Gage; great-nieces, Julia, Lexi, and Brey; her two best friends ever, Carol and Joyce; and all her many friends and relatives who have helped her through this journey we call LIFE. She was preceded in death by her son, Curt Libbert on September 4, 2011; and step-daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) Howser on June 13, 2020. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with Celebration of Life following at 11:00 a.m. A Mass will be said at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Vienna, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that expressions of sympathy may be made to Coyote Hill South (foster home for abused and neglected children), PO Box 1, Harrisburg, MO 65256.
