William Frank Buck, age 63, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020, from complications of kidney disease. He was born on March 31, 1956, in Marceline, Mo. to Virgil and Shirley Buck of Rothville, Mo. Bill was united in marriage to his greatest love Evelyn Kay Pape on January 2, 1977. Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received his bachelor's degree from Truman State University. Bill built a lifelong career in public service working for the State of Missouri in the Department of Corrections and the Department of Health and Senior Services. After retirement from the state, Bill worked for the federal government for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Administration for Children and Families. Bill was a member of the Sumner American Legion and served on the board of the Missouri Kidney Program. Bill loved music and travel, but was at his happiest spending time with his family and close friends. Surviving are his wife, Kay; beloved children, Jason Buck and Megan Buck; adored grandchildren, Aram and Evelyn Bhakta and their father Ajay Bhakta; siblings, Linda Wolf, Mary Lee Moffitt, Sallie Buck, and Bruce Buck; mother-in-law, Kathryn Mayfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Terry and Liz Smith, and David and Marion Pape. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and colleagues. Bill was proceeded in death by his parents, Virgil and Shirley Buck; father-in-law, Larry Pape; and brother, Harley J. Buck. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions in Bill's honor may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation or the Missouri Kidney Program.
