Peggy Lynn (Haley) Brose

Peggy Lynn (Haley) Brose, 74, of Chesterfield, Missouri, left this earth on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at her home surrounded by family who loved her more than anything. She was born on November 21, 1945 in Fulton, Missouri, a daughter of the late Jack and Evelyn (Carrington) Haley. She attended William Woods College in Fulton and eventually settled in Jefferson City, where she and Martin spent over 30 years. She loved her family and her friends. She loved to entertain and host family and friends, especially during holidays. She was a creative mom who encouraged imagination; she told original bedtime stories every night, encouraged pillow fort building, and created scavenger hunts throughout the home. She believed in being kind to everyone and had a talent for making friends wherever she went. She loved meeting up with her friends for Arris' Pizza. She volunteered in the schools and took joy in making sure the kids and teachers were supported. She had a part-time career as a travel agent and took great care in planning dream vacations for her clients. She loved a good joke and could play a mean game of Pinochle. She especially loved hugs from her grandkids. Her earthly departure leaves a gaping hole in our hearts; however, her personality and spirit were so bright, we know she will live on. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Martin Brose. She is also survived by daughter, Julia Wilke (Stephen) and son, Jeffrey Brose (Allison), both of Saint Louis. She is survived by siblings, Mary (Haley) Hall, Barbara (Haley) McGrath, and Charles Haley. Most importantly, "Hootie" (her "grandma" name she chose herself, because she was definitely a "hoot") adored and was adored by her five surviving grandchildren (Aerin, Kenley, Layla, Luka, and Lydia). She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Haley. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to Saint Luke's Hospital of Saint Louis as they cared for her so well these last years. She would also remind you to always write thank-you notes, no matter how small the gift. She had the most beautiful handwriting. In light of the current social distancing guidelines, the family will postpone a celebration of her life until a later date.
