James "Jim" Groene

James "Jim" Groene, 72, of Wardsville, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at his home. He was born on April 16, 1947 in Argyle, Missouri, a son of the late Bernard and Lois (Connor) Groene. He was united in marriage to Jane Morff on October 5, 1968, in St. Thomas. Jim was drafted into the Army on July 25, 1966, at a young age and proudly served his country in Korea during the Vietnam Era. He worked for several local construction companies before becoming a co-owner in Boessen & Groene Construction. He and his wife were the owners of Groene Villa Lawn and Garden. He was an enthusiastic builder, enjoyed working on small engines, making moonshine with his cousin Stanley, antiquing, searching for arrowheads, watching his favorite show - Big Joe's Polka and playing Santa Claus for the children at the Stadium Blvd. Wal-Mart. Most of all, he treasured the memories created with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters: Jodi Bise (Chris) and Jennifer Rogers (Matt Taylor); his siblings: Jerome Groene (Venny), Catherine Rackers, and Connie Falter (Allen); grandchildren: Kayleigh Rogers, Zachary Bise, Samantha Rogers, Christen Rogers, Jace Groene-Taylor, and Connor Groene-Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his wife: Janie Groene; in-laws: Bernard and Martina Morff; and brothers-in-law: Paul Rackers, Daniel and Alfred Morff. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2020 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2020 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Parish Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Central Missouri Honor Flight.
