Carey Irene Martin, age 65, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Parkview Rehabilitation Center in the Vitas Hospice Wing, Winter Park, Fla., after suffering from heart disease and many other illnesses. She was born on July 14, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo. to Sterling and Shirley (Stamper) Cornelius. She was a 1972 graduate of Lawson High School, Lawson, Mo. She married Roger Martin on November, 6, 1998. Roger passed away two days after her passing on Thursday, May 28. She is survived by her mother, Shirley, of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Jeanie (Barry) Gibson, Platte Woods, Mo., and Sandy (Dan) Hultgren, Oakview, Mo.; three children, Stacy (Kelly) Sutherland-Hodge, Sanford, Fla., Karin Hodge, Hudson, Fla., Miranda Hodge Maher, Dunedin, Fla.; four granddaughters, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Sterling. In honor of Carey's artistic nature her ashes along with Roger's will be swirled together for eternity in glass art pieces and/or jewelry for all of her daughters and granddaughters. She will always be in our hearts.
